Lauren Spyker

Kia ora, my name is Lauren and I am one of the four dentists providing care at Tauranga Dental House. I have been part of the team at Tauranga Dental House since early 2022, and I am privileged to be working with the community of Tauranga.

I was born and bred in Christchurch and embarked on my studies at the University of Otago. I completed my Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 2019, graduating with distinction.

I started off my career working as a Dental House Surgeon for two years at Hutt Valley DHB, where I gained special interests in paediatric dentistry, oral surgery, restorative and emergency care. During this time I completed the Primary Dental Sciences Examination for the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons with distinction.

My friendly, empathetic nature and compassion has allowed me to build trustworthy and strong relationships with my patients thus far, and I hope for that to continue.  I endeavour to provide fully-informed, patient centred and ethical dental care, whether that be to children who are unfamiliar in the dental setting, or to adults who haven’t been to the dentist for many years. I hope to change anyone’s mind who “doesn’t like going to the dentist”  and instead have a positive and empowering experience. With focus on prevention and dental education, I strive to ensure my patients have the best oral health and leave with a smile.

In my spare time I enjoy a whole plethora of activities including endurance running, swimming, cycling, surfing and snowboarding. Recently I have been getting amongst the Triathlon scene in Tauranga which keeps me very busy out of hours. I am also a member of the New Zealand Dental association and Waikato Bay of Plenty Branch.
